Behavior modification to the rescue!
Behavior modification is for dogs who are showing troublesome behavior that cannot be addressed through your run of the mill group classes. Sit, down, heel, and stay are not what solves your dog’s specific behavior problems — aggressive behavior comes from an emotional place.
Because of this, we cater to those emotions and train from an empathetic understanding of what your dog is going through. These private, in-home lessons focus on your dog and their needs. Not whether or not your dog knows how to do “commands”.
These training packages range from working on human-world life skills for your wild child teenager to working on bigger feelings and louder behaviors like reactivity, fear, and resource guarding.
In-person training is currently available in the Alexandria, Arlington, and parts of Fairfax in Northern VA. Other parts of the DMV on a case by case basis.

Teenage Spirit Package
For all the dog parents struggling with their teenage pup (5mos - 2yrs old). This package gives you a plan for all of the trouble that comes with having a teenager in the home.
What kind of trouble? Think hyperactivity, pups who have trouble calming down, biting holes into everything — including you, destroying things in the home, etc.
This 2-month package is also great for the things you weren’t prepared for like growling at everyone all of a sudden on walks, or stopping on walks and refusing to move forward, or even biting at the leash!

Address sharky behavior (lots of bitey behavior)
Teaching life skills like relaxation
Improving impulse control
Keeping new experiences and training skills positive

Day training sessions can be added at a discounted rate at any time to support progress, go on field trips for socialization, or troubleshoot changes to the training plan.

Big Feelings Package
Help for the dog parent who is struggling with the most embarrassing, and difficult behaviors like growling, barking, lunging, and even the dogs who are extremely shy. If you have one of these dogs, it’s likely that they’re experiencing a lot of different feelings, potentially all at once.
This is where all the big feelings live: reactivity, fear, resource guarding, etc. We jumpstart progress for sticky behaviors that you would be nervous to bring to a group class or anywhere in public.
This 3-month package helps us work very closely with you to set your dog up for success for life in the human world. Whether they were adopted from a shelter or rescue, or if these behaviors are all of a sudden new . . .

Build confidence through play and games
Teach new behaviors that help them cope with scary things happening — Fear is highly emotional.
Teach them about all the other options they have other than lunging and barking at people, dogs, or things.
Give them alternative ways to handle and navigate certain situations like seeing a dog on a walk
Increase positive experiences by not forcing them into uncomfortable situations.
*Add on: Day training to work on timing and accumulating positive feelings around particular triggers.
