Day Training

What are the benefits of day training?

Day training allows the trainer to come and train your dog. Sounds easy right? Well, it is! You don’t have to be home for the training session, and your life can go on without interruption. This service is best for people who have hectic schedules, are too busy to attend classes or do 1-on-1 coaching. Your trainer will also be able to exercise your dog and give them that midday potty break.

If I’m not there, how will I know what’s happening?

Don’t worry, you’ll still be involved! We record our sessions and send you a 5-10min recap video of our sessions as well. This way you can see what is happening with your dog during the day. At the end of each week, you and your trainer will have a transfer session. This is a great opportunity for the trainer to teach you what has been learned over the week and how it contributes to your overall training goal.

Is my dog a good fit for day training with Wolf.Man?

Wolf.Man Dog Training & Consulting focuses on behaviors like reactivity, adolescent dog behaviors (trust us, it deserves it’s own category), and dogs who need extra enrichment. But we also want to take on the brunt of jumpstarting positive life skills! We pride ourselves on being able to modify behavior using force-free methods. We want to help guardians understand and empathize with their dog’s behavior, and move forward to help their dog learn and cope.

How do packages work?

First step is to book a consultation. Consultations will help us determine how many weeks we will need to work with your dog’s behavior, and therefore will determine cost. There are some packages that are pre-set for time and cost. Packages are a great way to “set it and forget it”. We will schedule all transfer sessions at the time of booking, and follow ups are scheduled at the last transfer session. Check out an example structure of a multi-week package below:

Week 1: T,W,Th - training Transfer - Fri

Week 2: T,W,Th - training Transfer - Fri

Week 3: T,W,Th - training Transfer - Fri

Follow up virtually - 1 week post package (30min)

Follow up virtually - 2 weeks post package (30min)

Can I renew a package or book another at the end?

Yes! If you decide you want to work on another skill, you can book that after our original package wraps up. We also offer a follow up for clients that move recently after a package has ended. This is a 1 hour virtual session that helps you troubleshoot the new environment with your dog.

Shelter Consulting

How can a behavior consultant help my shelter?

A behavior consultant can really help you to determine the viability and safety of an animal in your care. We also strive to bring the basics of dog and cat behavior to facilities that run on well-meaning volunteers. Learning basic communication can help you place more animals faster.

Can you help us identify risky behavior?

Behavior is a fluid construct. A dog or cat may show risky behavior in one situation (i.e. at the vet, or during receiving), but then show zero risky behaviors in every day interactions. The best way to really understand an animal, is through multiple modes of interaction. We can teach how to make these assessments and identify an animal that poses a major risk to your community.

Are there protocols used in these plans?

In each individual case, we will customize handling protocols in-shelter and in a foster home. We promote the use of Fear Free practices in sheltering. Because of this, all of our protocols involve positive reinforcement methods that are meant to decrease the stress in your shelter, instead of adding to it.

How do enrichment packages work?

First step is send us an email! This way we can determine the best package for your facility or organization. Be detailed and let us know what you really need help with. Once we determine the need, we can book a FREE 30 min consultation to get into the nitty gritty details. Packages will be determined through a best-fit approach.
